To apply for a CSCS card you need to prove you have the appropriate training and qualifications to carry out your job. The type of work you do, how experienced you are and your qualifications or membership of professional bodies will determine which type of CSCS card you should apply for.
You will also need to pass the CITB Health Safety and Environment Test. There are different types of test and you can find out which test is the right one for you here. The test costs £17.50. There are companies that offer test administration services for an additional charge. Please ensure you are happy with these charges before using them. To apply for your own CSCS card you need to check which card is the right one for you and the job that you do by using the online cardfinder. This will also tell you which Health, Safety and Environment test you need to take and whether you need to provide any additional information or proof of your qualifications. Once you have passed the correct test, call the CSCS Helpline on 0344 994 4777. Before you ring please ensure you have a credit or debit card to pay £30 for the card and your current or previous employer’s details including contact name, full address and telephone number. Your card will usually be dispatched on the next working day.
If you know which card you need to apply for you can download an application form, complete it and return it with the documents required. Once all the required documentation has been received, Please note that postal applications can take up to 30 working days.
If you are an employer applying for one or more cards you can complete the Employer Application Form and e-mail it to us. We will aim to contact the person named on the form using the phone number supplied to collect payment and resolve any queries. This process takes up to 20 working days.
