Welding occupations and CSCS cards
Approved welders must apply for their cards via CSCS, rather than CSWIP, using the process below.
1 – Certification and HSE test
Gain or renew the appropriate ISO certification for your role via one of the providers listed below and ensure you have passed the CITB Health, safety and environment test for operatives.
2 – Apply for your blue Skilled Worker card via the My CSCS app
Download the My CSCS app, register or log in and start your application for a blue Skilled Worker card.
Select your occupation as Approved Welder and the ISO Standard you were assessed against, then enter the CITB test ID and upload a copy of your welding certification.
When it comes to renewal, click renew card within the app and follow the same process.
3 – Get your CSCS card
Once your application is approved, your digital CSCS card will be available straight away via the app while your physical card arrives via post.
Card validity continues to match the length of the certification held, with the CITB HSE test required to have been passed within two years prior to renewing.
