Closure of the Personal Fall Protection Installer Permanent Solutions courses
Published: June 16, 2022
CSCS is to withdraw recognition of the Kee Safety and HCL Personal Fall Protection Installer Permanent Solution courses from Friday 30th June 2022.
The decision means applicants who apply with these courses after this date will not gain their requested CSCS card.
These courses have been replaced with the Apprenticeship Standard for Fall Arrest Technician, although existing cardholders are able to renew their card. This change affects new applications only.
Applicants registered to complete the apprenticeship will be able to apply for the CSCS Apprentice card and upon completion of the apprenticeship, they will then gain the CSCS Advanced Craft card.
Key points
- CSCS will no longer recognise the HCL and Kee Safety Skilled Worker Personal Fall Protection Permanent Installation Course for the Blue Skilled card from 30th June 2022.
- Applicants that have achieved the course and applied for the Blue Skilled card prior to 30th June 2022 will be able to renew the Blue Skilled card upon expiry
- CSCS will continue accept the HCL & Kee Safety Experienced Workers Personal Fall Protection Permanent Installation Training Certificate for the Red Trainee card for a limited period of 12 months which will cease in June 2023.
- The Trainee card is valid for five years and is non-renewable – it is expected cardholders will complete either the Fall Arrest Technician L3 Apprenticeship within this time or the NVQ 2 in Accessing Operations and Rigging – Fall Arrest.
Detail of this Apprenticeship can be found here via the Institute for Apprenticeships website.
