PRESS RELEASE FROM THE JOINT INDUSTRY BOARD FOR PLUMBING MECHANICAL ENGINEERING SERVICES
The Joint Industry Board for Plumbing Mechanical Engineering Services in England and Wales (JIB-PMES) are pleased to announce the introduction of smart technology.
By introducing a smartcard employers will be able to check both the validity of cards and the qualifications held by simply using a card reader, smart phone or tablet device.
JIB-PMES General Manager Angela Gridley said:
“The Joint Industry Board has worked hard to ensure that plumbing is at the forefront in smart technology thereby adding value to certification cards. One of the main functions of the Joint Industry Board is to provide JIB UK-PHMES registration cards to operatives employed in the plumbing, heating and mechanical services sectors. Card holders and employers will be able to access a host of additional benefits. These benefits will be especially relevant for operatives working on multiple sites, allowing cardholders to house their career, qualifications and training details in one place thereby acting as a ‘skills passport’ reducing time and costs to both cardholders and employers”.
The cost for a new JIB UK-PHMES smart card will be £35. JIB UK-PHMES CSCS cards already issued by JIB-PMES will remain valid until their expiry date.
CSCS Chief Executive Graham Wren says: “This is very positive news for the plumbing industry and the people who work in it. It is also another vital step towards meeting the requirements set out by the Construction Leadership Council in their Industrial Strategy.”
