Qualification developed for Architectural Metalworker
Published: June 15, 2017
Following feedback from the industry, CITB has concluded that there is a need for an Architectural Metalworker qualification. A National Occupational Standard (NOS) has been developed and Architectural Metalworker is captured under the Specialist Installation Occupations.
CITB has already begun drafting the Unit for this qualification and it is hoped it will be finalised, approved and ready for delivery within the next few months.
CSCS is aware that there will be Architectural Metalworkers with CRO cards soon to expire and these workers will require access to site while the qualification is under development. During this time, Architectural Metalworkers should contact CSCS to find out what temporary card options are available to them.
When the qualification is available, Architectural Metalworkers will be expected to register for the fully developed qualification, upon which they will receive a free Experienced Worker card so that they may continue to access sites while completing the qualification.
The Experienced Worker card is valid for one year and is non-renewable. If the card holder does not complete the new qualification before the Experienced Worker Card expires they will be unable to obtain another CSCS card.
